About UK Solar Cost

UK Solar Cost is an independent calculator site for UK homeowners weighing up solar panels, batteries, heat pumps, boilers and insulation. It exists because the honest numbers are hard to find: installer sites quote prices that assume you’re buying, comparison sites bury assumptions, and grant deadlines hide in PDFs.

What we are not

We are not affiliated with any installer, manufacturer, energy supplier or government body. We don’t sell panels, boilers or heat pumps, and no installer pays for placement or favourable figures. Where we eventually offer quote-matching, it will be labelled as such and the calculators will stay free of it.

How the figures are checked

Every figure on this site is either a published figure or a labelled estimate. Energy prices come from the Ofgem price cap (the figures here are the 1 October – 31 December 2026 cap: electricity 26.32p/kWh, gas 7.97p/kWh, typical dual-fuel bill £1,723/year). Grant amounts, eligibility rules and deadlines come from the published scheme rules (Boiler Upgrade Scheme, ECO4, Warm Homes: Local Grant). Install costs are market ranges informed by MCS-based data — inherently estimates, so they are shown as ranges and labelled. SEG rates are the suppliers’ published October 2026 tariffs. Everything carries a “checked October 2026” label, and pages are re-checked when the price cap or scheme rules change.
